A reminder to NHS members – before the football game there are winter wonderland volunteer opportunities at Wildwood Park.  This is an excellent way to accumulate group hours.

 

Students from Mrs. Reigel's and Ms. Chase's classes are to pick up your food containers today.

TODAY – There will be a Mock Trial meeting after school in Room 10 and 11. 

 

The pre-season boy's basketball meeting for freshmen will be held in room 55 after school at 3:10

 

The sign-up meeting for all girls interested in playing Hockey is at 3:15 pm in the study hall.

 

Rehearsal for Earnest will be at 7:00 PM in room 10-11 for the full cast.  Stage crew will work on stage at 5:00 today.

The next FBLA meeting will be Tuesday, November 4 after school in Room 71.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Play tickets will go on sale starting tomorrow.  Tickets are reserved seating for $8.00 each.  The play is The Importance of Being Earnest which will be performed Nov. 8^th & 9^th at 7:30 PM.

 

All students riding tonight's spectator bus, please be ready by 3:45 pm.  Buses will leave from the high school bus parking lot at 4:00 pm sharp.  You must ride the bus you are assigned to the game and back home after the game.  Make arrangements to be picked up promptly once the bus returns.

 

The following students will be representing Marshfield High School this week as members of the State Honors Bands and Orchestras:  Laura Lake, Seth Berger, Kara Facizewski, Noreen Rashid, Hanna Gilbert, Emily Wolfe, Michael Josephson, Teddy Schenkman, and Hanna Hargis.  These students auditioned and were selected as 9 of the top musicians in the state and will be performing in concerts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Also representing Marshfield is Tim Carroll, who was recognized as an exemplary soloist at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival last May.  Tim was then selected to be one of 10 student soloists to perform in a concert at the State Music Convention this weekend.  Congratulations and good luck to all the musicians, performing in Madison this week.

SPORTS RESULTS FROM THE WEEKEND:
The Girls Cross Country Team has qualified for the W.I.A.A. Team State Championships for the 4th year in a row. They will race at 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 1st, at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Boys Soccer Team won their regional match against Wausau West on Saturday, 1-0. They will now host Rhinelander in Sectional semi-finals at 3:30 pm, on Thursday, October 30th, at Griese Park.

There will be a spectator bus for the Tuesday's nights football game in La Crosse. Cost is $5.00 per person. Please sign-up in the office. Departure time will be Tuesday at 4:00 pm from the circle drive. Students may sign up until noon tomorrow.

There are a few openings left to register for Xtreme Xploration on November 5^th.  Students will depart from MHS at 8:30 AM with arrival at the UW Marshfield Wood County Campus where they will be divided into groups of 25.  Each group will tour Mid-State Technical College and UW Marshfield, listen to a presentation about "Workplace Ethics", and speak with professional from 16 career pathways at the Career Fair.  This event is free and there is a chance to win a Nintendo Wii.  Students will return to MHS by 1:30 PM.  Permission forms are due to Mrs. Wagner in the main office no later than October 27^th.

 

OLD NEWS - Join the nation on Saturday, October 25 in a special day to Make a Difference! Participate in the 7^th annual Marshfield Area Make A Difference Day celebration. Come together to rake leaves for those who are unable to do so themselves.  You can make a connection with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors you serve.  Volunteers will gather at the Marshfield Senior Center, 111 S. Maple Ave., at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25 for registration and instructions before being sent on to their volunteer sites.  Call 384-9992 to sign up or pick up registration forms in the office.  Volunteers must provide their own rake, gloves and transportation to and from volunteer sites and back home.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY: JOIN THE NATION ON SATURDAY, OCT. 25TH IN A
SPECIAL DAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. PARTICIPATE IN THE 7TH ANNUAL MAKE A
DIFFERENCE DAY. COME TOGETHER TO RAKE LEAVES FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE
TO DO SO THEMSELVES. YOU CAN MAKE A CONNECTION-WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS,
CO-WORKERS AND NEIGHBORS YOU SERVE. VOLUNTEERS WILL GATHER AT THE
MARSHFIELD SENIOR CENTER, 111 SO. MAPLE AT 8:30 A.M. ON SAT. OCT. 25TH
FOR REGISTRATION AND INSTRUCTIONS, BEFORE BEING SENT ON TO THEIR
VOLUNTEER SITES. VOLUNTEERS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN RAKES, GLOVES AND
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM VOLUNTEER SITES AND BACK HOME. CALL 384-9992
TO SIGN UP OR STOP IN THE MAIN OFFICE FOR REGISTRATION FORMS.

"Attention students participating in wrestling this season. There will
be an EARLY hydration/skinfold test at 3:15 in the boys' locker room.
There will be another date offered at a later time in November. Any
questions, call Coach Lang."

Athletic training shirts are in: please turn in your $13.00 to Ms.
Arndt (Room 78) Kelly, or Megan ASAP. You will not receive your shirt
until you have paid! Checks can be made out to Kelly Burt. Please put
cash in an envelope with your name on it!

THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING FOR DEBATE CLUB WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW AT
3:15 IN ROOM 44. ANYONE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE ABOUT BECOMING A
PART OF THIS NEW CLUB IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE MEETING. IF YOU HAVE
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CLUB OR MEETING, SEE MS. BONIKOWSKE IN ROOM44.

ANYONE PLANNING TO GO OUT FOR GIRLS' BASKETBALL PLEASE SIGN-UP IN
ROOM 55 BY TODAY. BASKETBALL PRESEASON MEETING WILL BE HELD TUESDAY,
OCTOBER 28TH AT 3:10 IN ROOM 55.

t-shirts and sweatshirts are DUE this Friday. If you need an order
form, please see Miss Goettl in Room 71 during 3rd - 9th hours.
Remember that your money is due at the time the order is placed.

GROUPS OF 25. EACH GROUP WILL TOUR MID-STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND UW
MARSHFIELD, LISTEN TO A PRESENTATION ABOUT "WORKPLACE Ethics", AND
SPEAK WITH PROFESSIONAL FROM 16 CAREER PATHWAYS AT THE CAREER FAIR.
THIS EVENT IS FREE AND THERE IS A CHANCE TO WIN A NINTENDO WII.
STUDENTS WILL RETURN TO MHS BY 1:30 P.M. PERMISSION FORMS ARE DUE TO
JANE WAGNER IN THE MHS MAIN OFFICE NO LATER THAN MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

For those who wish to donate to the student run collections for Mr. Schmitt's family will have the chance to donate the rest of this week during your lunch hour.

 

Marshfield Girls swimming lost to Wausau East (number 1 in the conference) Tuesday evening at Marshfield Senior High Pool.

 

Attention Spanish Honor Society – your cooking day has been postponed to November 10.

 

Any boys planning on or interested in playing hockey, please sign up in the office by the end of the week.

 

There are a few openings left to register for Xtreme Xploration on November 5^th.  Students will depart from MHS at 8:30 AM with arrival at the UW Marshfield Wood County Campus where they will be divided into groups of 25.  Each group will tour Mid-State Technical College and UW Marshfield, listen to a presentation about "Workplace Ethics", and speak with professional from 16 career pathways at the Career Fair.  This event is free and there is a chance to win a Nintendo Wii.  Students will return to MHS by 1:30 PM.  Permission forms are due to Mrs. Wagner in the main office no later than October 27^th.

TODAY – Mock trial will meet today after school in room 10-11.

Stage crew will work tonight starting at 5:00 on stage.  Rehearsal this evening for the play is at 6:30 for groups A, D, E, and F.

 

TOMORROW - Anyone planning to go out for girls' basketball please sign up in room 55 by tomorrow.  Basketball pre-season meeting will be held Tuesday, October 28^th at 3:10 in room 55.
